Aden Country Park Identity

Aden, often referred to as “the jewel in the Buchan crown” has been recognised as one of the country’s best green spaces with a prestigious Green Flag Award. The awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country and Aden impressed the judges with its excellent use of green space, well-maintained facilities and high standard of safety and security.

We were commissioned to produce a new identity for the Park, along with leaflets, way-finding panels and a website.

The design

From the outset, it was clear that the identity should have a green theme. Taking  trip over to the park helped – it is breath-taking and beautiful. Although there are many varieties of tree in the area (we’ve even produced a tree-trail leaflet), the horse-chestnut tree was the inspiration.

It’s a simple, elegant and approachable identity, which complements the family-friendly nature of the park. The counter of the ‘d’ is replaced by the leaf and the the green and brown are natural in colour.

As a second aspect to the identity, it works perfectly with the treelined hill graphic we have used throughout the branding. Quite literally, it gives the logo a grounding and a sense of place.
